A sheriff's deputy who worked in the Indio jail and his daughter died Sunday after the car they were traveling in was hit by a suspected drunk driver northwest of San Jacinto. The victims in the crash were identified as the deputy, 45-year-old Daniel Jacks Jr., and his daughter, 19-year-old Hannah Jacks. Both lived in San Jacinto. The crash occurred around 9 p.m. on Gilman Springs Road east of Bridge Street, about five miles from the San Jacinto city limits, according to a statement from California Highway Patrol.
