Three people drowned in the San Jacinto River this month, including a 6-year-old and 12-year-old, authorities said. In response, the Harris County Sheriff's Office posted a video on water safety on its YouTube channel. Several factors make the river dangerous, which flows through Montgomery and Harris counties, said Harris County Sheriff's Lt. David Jasper, who is part of the maritime tactical operations section for the agency's homeland security bureau. "The river's dangerous because it's not like a swimming pool, where you can see the bottom," he said.
