San Jacinto College will offer a bachelor's degree in education next spring to respond to a statewide teacher shortage. Hundreds of students are expected to enroll within the program's first few years, college officials said. Graduates will receive a Bachelor's of Applied Science in Education with an emphasis on early childhood education – the community college's second-ever four-year degree program. 'Every time we turned around, there just seemed to be more of a need for it,' said Albert Talley, department chair of child development, education, and psychology.
